About Spinner Wheel

Who makes this, and why it works the way it does.

Spinner Wheel is a free online random picker. You add options, spin the wheel, and it lands on one of them. There is no account, no download, and no limit on how often you spin.

The site started from a small, ordinary annoyance: deciding things in a group takes far longer than the decision is worth. Most of the wheels already online were slow to load, buried the wheel under advertising, or asked you to sign in before you could pick between three lunch options. This one loads fast, puts the wheel first, and works on a phone.

What the site does

Two wheels are available today. The homepage spinner takes any list of options you give it, with optional weighting, winner removal, and score keeping across a session. The Yes or No wheel is a two-answer decision maker with an optional Maybe segment and best of 3 or best of 5 rounds.

More wheels are built and will be released as they are finished: a random name picker, a random number wheel, a team generator, and a classroom picker. They are not linked from the site until they ship, so you will never land on an empty page.

How the wheel decides

The winner is selected first, in your browser, using the standard random number generator built into every modern browser. The wheel is then rotated so that the winning segment comes to rest under the pointer. The animation communicates the result; it does not produce it.

Every spin is independent of the last. Weighted options change how much of the wheel each option occupies, and therefore how likely it is to be chosen, and nothing else.

This is a tool for everyday choices. It is not a certified randomness source, and it should not be used for gambling or for prize draws that carry a legal audit requirement.

Your data stays on your device

Options, weights, settings, questions, and recent results are stored in your browser using local storage. They are never transmitted to us. There is no user database, because there are no user accounts.

That also means we cannot recover your setup if you clear your browser data or switch devices. It is a deliberate trade: nothing to lose because there is nothing held.

How the site is funded

Spinner Wheel is free and is paid for by advertising. Ads are supplied through Google AdSense and are clearly separated from the wheel and its results. Advertising never affects which option a spin lands on.

Advertising partners may set their own cookies. What they collect, and how to opt out of personalised advertising, is set out in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.

Who runs it

Spinner Wheel is an independently run site operated by Spinner Wheel. It is a small project rather than a company product, which is why it does what it does and not a great deal more.

Bug reports, feature requests, and corrections are genuinely welcome at support@spinnerwheel.tools.
